About Us
Sri Lanka (formally known as CEYLON) – a Tea Island, is known for its diverse cultures and scenic beauty. Tea was first introduced to Sri Lanka as a replacement crop for coffee during the 19th Century by a Scottish planter, James Taylor.
Due to Sri Lanka’s distinctive setting, seven separate regions, each with their own unique climates can produce a tea respective to that location. Hence, Sri Lanka is a utopia for those interested in experiencing both quality and variety in rich exotic blends, backed by the Sri Lankan tea industry.
Nuwara Eliya, Uva, Dimbulla, Uda Pussellawa, Kandy, Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa are the island’s prime tea growing regions. This has resulted in an assortment of the finest teas with different flavour, aroma, strength and colour; indigenous to each agro-climatic district that is not found anywhere else in the world. Over the years, the country has earned a reputation as a producer of high-quality teas; synonymous with quality and taste.
Premium grade teas from our collective plantations have consistently been renowned amongst the best in the region. Our leaves flourish under ideal tea growing weather conditions and are nurtured with natural flowing spring waters. Soaking up the rich characteristics of the soil and the environment, our teas are imbued with a unique palette ranging from light/mild to dark/heavy bodied tastes. These hi-mid-low grown teas have their own distinctive characteristics – taste, flavour and aroma– resultant from our combination of estate origins and blends.
Our GLENTLEY teas comprise the finest teas, hand-picked and carefully processed from the heritage tea estates in Sri Lanka, prior to being packed, shipped and distributed to your neighborhood. With a heritage and expertise in growing tea that spans over generations, we offer a wide range of teas with a delightfully unique personality and taste profile.
It is our great pleasure to share our family’s passion for tea with you. We have come a long way since transporting our first few shipments to the middle east. We are currently in our third generation of tea tasters and since then have changed drastically. Though, the packaging of tea is unlike before, and shipping has span to a variety of countries; our desire for pure and irresistible tasting teas continue to hold true. We value each relationship built, as shown through our commitment in shipping to some of our loyal first customers residing in otherwise remote areas.
Whether your preference is for a light, smoother brew, or a bold, stronger blend, you will find that GLENTLEY will fulfill your personal preference.
